Just bought this AS200

I didn't bid on it, but then emailed him and he agreed to sell it to me for the lowest listing since it didn't sell. I've been searching for one of these for a while, and it's in worse shape than i'd like, but the neck, he said is straight and true and the frets are like new. Should be here tomorrow or Friday. As long as she plays nicely who cares about a few imperfections? I've never played an AS200 but they are legendary...they sound pretty darn good when Scofield plays 'em. Looking forward to your review and keeping my fingers crossed for you. Having purchased many a guitar off of e-Bay, I know the feeling of not being able to breathe comfortably 'til you unbox the axe. Fortunately, most times everything works out just fine. It seems we can't buy any kind of AS200 for under 1000€ here in Europe. It was as surprising to see that an AM200 didn't go for $1000. This guitar (NOS) is in the catalogue 2002 of "Musik Produktiv" Germany/Switzerland for EUR 1999.- , so EUR 715.- that's 35.77% of the last list price. That IS ridiculous. EUR 1000.- would be right considering the dings and dongs. In a better shape EUR 1200-1350. If you are planning to use heavier strings, the higher tension will correct the action to some extend. Personally I wouldn't play lower tension than .010"-.042 (I still have a few from Gibson) or .010-.046" on ES-335 clones. If you have developed a certain preference for a gauge, wait with your adjustments until a day after you have installed them, because the neck needs time to react and to come at ease. And that case... Who cares about the case? If it isn't functional in the sense of protection any more, just buy a generic ES-335 case. You made an excellent deal on the guitar. That's what counts. I have an 79 AS400, 80 AS200 and an 81 AS50. All have basically same shape neck and play about the same. They smoke any 335 I owned in the past. I play the AS50 most though for some reason (partly cuz I changed to Seymour Duncan pickups...59 and Pearly Gates). The very best of the lot was a cherry AS50.
