GB and AM

It´s an Japan Artstar made in 1999 (notice the tulip-head also). The AM sounds dark and warm, while my new GB10 has that punchy bright articulated tone I also admire. Curious to know what kind/range of music to you play with your AM200 and what strings (gauge) you are using. I've done some mods to my AM70 to make it a little more jazzy/fusion-ish. I'm using Thomastick .012 to .050 round wounds. I'm thinking of trying the .013 to .053 but that seems a bit heavy for this kind of guitar. Last question. Does your AM200 have Super 58's? Congratulations on the GB10 acquisition. I once owned a GB100. I really love the GB's - tone, vibe, fit and feel. That includes Realbook standards as well as free interacting. Depends on my playing partners really. I made the best sound on my AM200 (to my ears) with the Thomastik Infeld Be-Bop-Strings (the 0.11 ones). But with the GB I´d like to go deeper in standard-jazz repertoire (I have to really parctice that ;-)) and I believe the string gauge must be much heavier for the GB. Thomastik funnily has "George Benson"-String to offer. They are 012. to 053 with nickel flat or round wound third string down (including the third). I have not tried them but will do, soon. The AM200 has Super58´s, yes! I replaced the triple magnet pickups with SD 59's. If I ever find some Super 58's with gold covers, I may replace the SD 59's. I think the darker Super 58's would be an improvement even though SD 59's sound nice. Overall, I really like the mods - it's working out well for me and the fit and feel of the guitar is wonderful.
