Spotted the 2005 GB100 BS in England and Japan and wanted to know if it just might get imported to the U.S.!

I inquired about the GB100 from an Ibanez dealer. They say it is not currently available in the US, but may find out more after the Summer NAMM show. Keep your fingers crossed. This looks like the reissue ot the GB12!

As far as ordering one, I'm may need to break into my piggy bank IF they ever become available!

I purchased a GB-100 in Hong Kong about 4 years ago. I happened to be there on business. The hotel where I stayed happened to have a music store across the street. They mostly carried CDs, DVDs and very low end, no name guitars. Strangely, they had a couple of GB's hanging high above on the wall.

I haggled a little with one of the sales guys and got what I thought was an incredibly low price.

Due to the dramatic difference in humidity between Hong Kong and Northern California (where I reside), the guitar went through some very minor changes when I arrived home. After a couple of months, I took it to my local luthier to have the guitar setup properly. Even after spending some money on the setup, the guitar was still a very fantastic deal.

Granted buying a guitar far from home (and in another country) is a big risk. Thankfully it worked out for me. Hopefully Ibanez will import the GB-100 into the U.S. sometime soon.

Wildfield:

You got any pictures of your GB100 to share with us? I'm curious as to the differences, if any, with the GB12.

Wildfield,

Where do you live? I'm in San Francisco. We'll have to organize that Northern CA chapter ICW meeting!

Yeah I live in Pacifica, not too far south of San Francisco, we should have a GB-athon !! I have an '81 GB-10 natural...

Oh yeah, congratulations on your great score - by the way, did the airline let you carry the guitar on the plane - one of the things about the GB-10 is the case is kinda small (compared to some guitars) and it would fit in the overhead. If you caught a relatively empty flight you'd probably not had too much trouble from the flight attendants... Just curious.

I'm in San Jose.

I did get the guitar on the plane (thank goodness). It was pre-911 and security was not as tight. At that time, I was flying almost every month to Hong Kong for work. We were flying business class and the overhead compartments didn't have dividers, so the case fit no problem.

I'm sorry I did not address your question - I just noticed it this morning. I sold the GB-100 last December '04. Your question prompted me to search for the photos I took for my e-Bay ad. I could not find the photos which is very disturbing. I have photos from all my other e-Bay auctions but not the GB-100! Don't know what happened to them.

As for the differences, I believe the only difference is the peg head inlay. The GB-12 has a 12 in the inlay.

If I find the photos, I'll post them.

Darryl
