Does someone know what will be the shipping costs for a guitar with case to Europe (Germany)
Do I have to pay importduties or VAT when importing a guitar from a non EU country?
Who has the experience?

A definitive answer about the shipping costs can give only the seller. I'd expect amounts between $100 to $150. If you import a guitar from a non-EU country, be ready to add approx. 20% of the total on customs duties and import VAT.

HB,

No offense to anyone here if that is their guitar for sale, but the starting price seems a little high.

Hi Big,

I am not the owner.

When there are a lot of collectors and only a few collectibles, prices will go up.
(that's a basic law of economics)
What should be the startingprice according to you?
What average price does this 2616NT in the market at this moment?
Where can I find price indications of vintage Ibanezzes on the net?
I found a list on a site in Europe (France) if somebody is iterested and you don't know it, I can post it.
(This type unfortunately is not on it)

As a newbe I already noticed that prices in Europe are on the avarage at least 20% higher than in the US.
People in Europe try to ask the(USD)pricelevel in Euro's for their boxes.

Damn currencies

HB, as Juergen said, the average fee (USPS) Post, is around 75-120 euros from U.S. of A. to Europe, depending of course on the parcel size. Smaller solid-bodies can travel for less..:-) Cheapest one I´ve bought came for 65.75 usd, un-insurenced..
As for the avg prices, there is an excellent table here at ICW, and about the prices in Europe, sometimes they follow the dollar-price directly, I´ve found out..
Of course there are duties, customs fees etc. when you import goods from outside of the Union..
Hope this helps..
btw. nice looking Jazz-box, truly..*drool*

Hi Again

Thanx a lot

Can you tell me where can I find these pricetables?

What would interest me is over what value are you paying importtaxes and VAT?
If I buy from a private person in the US and there is no commercial invoice, can he put USD 100 on the shippinginvoice for a guitar I paid USD 1000,- for ?
In '74 the shopprice of this 2616 was around
USD 350 So in fact it's real vaulue is 0 and I cannot pay taxes over USD 0?

HB, try keyword search "Prices", the thread mentioned is "Rising prices of used Ibanezes"
Customs guys have their own pricing tables, if you don´t have an invoice..It does not matter whether you buy from a private person or from shop, if they have a clue it´s some kinda transaction..(You´ve bought something, that is..)

You'd have to pay import duties/VAT on the total (goods + shipping costs). Even if you buy from a private person, the seller has to include a so called "pro forma invoice". If there is no invoice included, you have to submit a prove of payment like the PayPal invoice, for example. If the seller includes an invoice of US$100 and the guys at the customs office believe that's the correct value, you've been lucky. If they don't buy the story, demand a prove of payment from you and discover the small difference of US$900, they will take you to court for tax evasion.

Another thing to consider is the insurance value: If a value of US$100 is entered in the customs declaration, that is also the max. amount the insurance of the post office would pay if the guitar has been damaged or stolen. And I doubt that the seller would pay you the difference back

hi,

it seems to be back on ebay again, with the same only buy-it-now price.

shipment from canada cost me 70 canadian dollars for a flying v and took about 3 weeks. I did not have to pay any fees like tax or custom, cos the seller lowered the papers down to 50,-- dollars and declared it as a gift. it was worth it trying to do so.

This is not the only 2616 on Ebay right now. And there's also an FA-700, and a 2470 listed, plus I think there's a 1980 AS-200? Ebay is primarily a sellers market these days, so I don't expect these to be auctioned off at affordable prices. Why did I have to be broke right now? :-)
