I just sold my Epi Sheraton II and I'm looking for another IBZ. Don't know much about these AM-50s but this one sure looks nice: clean, nice sunburst, Super 58s.

Ebay Item #280101603134

What's a good current price for this guy? Any comments on tone and playability?

Thanks,

Rick

I'd say somewhere between $850.- and $1350.-
This one has a very small finish damage near the jack input, otherwise it looks near perfect. Original tuners, original MIJ 3 screw Super 58 pickups, Super Grip II knobs, selector switch cap, selector switch rubber ring, OHSC... it's all there.

But, you must realise that this guitar is made of MAPLE. That means he's less jazzy, less warm than a burled mahogany AM-205. There is even a difference in the wood of the NECK.
So expect more treble and less bass. It's like a Les Paul but less heavy. The neck is VERY STABLE AND STRAIGHT.

I have the same guitar, but minty + OHSC. It's nice, but not comparable to an AS model.

Sold for a pretty reasonable price. I would have bid on it if I didn't already have an AM.

Congratulations to the winning bidder.

Ginger,

How does the AM50 and AS50 compare? Sound and build quality, how do they differ?

I don't have an AS50, just an AM50 and a ST50.
What I know that there is a difference in pickups: Super 58s sound different from V-2s.
I think $735.- is rather low for this guitar in it's all original condition.
It's the second surprise this week. I expected more of the all original 2355M too. This is what can happen if you don't set a decent RESERVE.

Sometimes the time just isn't right to sell.
