Does anyone know any details about the gb10 floating pickups used ? I have heard that they are Alnico 3 magnets and I have always thought they were pretty powerful pickups and a little dark. I had a 95 gb10 of mine tested out and the neck pickup was like 12k DC resistance.
Who makes these floaters, Ibanez or do they get them somewhere else ? They are much fatter sounding than typical Johnny Smith types.

Good questions. I've never heard any talk about the specs on the GB floating pups. Including that they are less desirable than some other brand or type. That is a pretty good endorsement, IMHO.

Maybe someone has the specs nearby (or a meter to test) and can post an answer. It would be helpful to post the year of the pickups to see if anything has changed over the 27 years of production.
