Based on my research, this is the Korean AM50. Not sure what year. I'm surprised it doesn't say 'ArtStar' on the headstock. Don't see many of them around...

That means, you can expect a Y-serial number (for Yoojin factory).

Oh man, tell me about it! (I don't actually have any clue about serial numbers or factories.)

Well, this isn't the first time we see a Korean AM50.
Several months ago, there was an Artstar AM50 with the Y-serial number.

Having a 1983 Artist AM50 I looked it up in Captain Ibanez's thread, and I discovered that not all semi-acoustic production moved to the Terada factory in 1987. Some of the cheaper models were made in Korea. So the AM205 was replaced by the AM200 (made in the Terada factory), but the ARTSTAR AM50 became a Korean guitar.

I know nothing of the quality they produced in Yoojin, I only have the 1983 MIJ Artist.

I've even seen Korean GB models... not a success, according to our fellow members...
Personally I don't know if they're so much worse than the Japanese guitars. They go a lot cheaper, that's what I know, especially the GB.
