i use a Yamaha sb2000 for dance gigs and a Gibson L4 for quiet jazz jobs. I needed something in between so i could play loud but have fat tone. I've been trying to get an older used gb10 but wasn't ever sure of buying used sight unseen, so i treated myself and bought a new GB10. I was still unsure about a new one since I was unable to try one due to the fact that i couldn't find a single store in Northern Calif. that stocked. But I found a store that would order it for very reasonable price. WOW... It is made exquistely. My Gibson , though I still love it, feels like i'm playing a bus. I play thru a Polytone 104 biamped out to a Mini brute. Fat tones for days. Anyway, my opinion of this all Japan made guitar is very satisfying. Above the serial number is a label "Made by Team J Craft". Sounds like a revilry between makers elsewhere. The mother of pearl inlay is remarkable, even the F holes are binded. Thanks to this forum for all the info. !!!!

Congratulations on your new axe! Did you get the natural or antique violin finish?

it is sunburst. I think it looks better than natural and i can't see how one could sound better than the other. I'm surprised to see the craftsmanship so much better than the upgraded Gibson. Like Yamaha products, I think Japan Ibanez makes some fine instruments for the dollar.

Earle, Congratulations!

It's a little too late for this, but they did have a blonde GB10 at B Street Music in San Meteo. Definitely a good indie store worth checking out. Got my AG195 there. They are very good with parts orders too.
