okay, for those who's interested i made a little test of my equipment

gear :
Ibanez AK85 guitar (Seymour Duncan Seth Lover SH-55N in the neck)
Roland Jazz Chorus JC-50 amp (1x12 with a huge acoutronics spring reverb)
Shure 10A mic (not the best choice ... but it's all i have for now ...) - a dynamic mic
Creative Augigy 2 soundcard in my PC

two clips :
1) http://ljosha.org/mp3/zhen_jctest.ogg
here i tried to get the tone of bireli lagrene's 'standards' album (1992)
i've put the mic behind the speaker and amp's preferences were : bright OFF, bass 0, treble 10, reverb 10, chorus 0
guitar's tone knob to the max (10)
2) http://ljosha.org/mp3/clean.ogg
way more natural jc vibes
just a sparklin bright tone ... clean as hell !
mic in the front of the speaker, directed a bit diagonal, amp's prefs are : bright ON, bass 10, treble 10, reverb 5, chorus 0
guitar's tone knob to the max (10)

opinions are welcome :-) (not on the tunes i played, not on my playing techinques, but on the tone, please !)

thanks !

Funkle, as far as i'm concerned, u're a more dark and mellow tone fan, right ?

i'll try to record some dark and mellow tones tomorrow

Sounds like you get a pretty silky tone either way Zhen. I guess the only reason why I would lean slightly toward the second clip is because I prefer a little less reverb, but they are both nice. I've been trying to record with a Senheiser e609 lately, and you're giving me some ideas so thanks for sharing. :-)

Thanks Funkle..
Ok, I listened a bit to each one... just a bit because my system crashed each time after a few seconds of playing ....!!?? But I managed to listen to the first file.

I like the high notes on the first file but find the low ones lacking body... I like them with more body and definition. You have rosewood on your fingerboard, right?

The second file I got just the first few notes before it crashed... can't really say anything.

Fg100 :
"I like them with more body and definition."

"You have rosewood on your fingerboard, right?"

thanks !
