Hey Pekka,

Well I can't remember if the model number you listed is right but let me tell you what that guitar is a copy of - more or less a copy of a Gibson Rosewood Crest. Now on the instrument you are checking out there are some little bits of hardward trim missing but definitely not deal breakers. On the tailpiece there should be a wood insert, to rather closely copy the original Crest tailpiece.

"Your" guitar has lovely rosewood back and top, very nicely bookmatched. There was a guitar similiar to it that ran on eBay a couple weeks ago that sold for around $750.00 - or $800.00 so if yours is anywhere in that ballpark it's a good deal... Heck I think they are highly underated gutiars....

Nice find !!

Here's a link to the thread where we were talking about the one up for sale a couple three weeks ago, also included in the thread are photos of the real deal, a Gibson Rosewood Crest. Ibanez did a really nice job copying it - maybe even "improved" on it using regular sized humbuckers, the Crest have MINI humbuckers screwed to the top...

Darn, that link didn't work. But I did locate the thread where we were talking about the guitar that was for sale about 3 weeks ago - and bumped it up so you should see "70s SemiHollow", check it out

Hi Pekka

The guitar we're talking about here is the model number 2374 and as far as I know it has been in production from 1972 until 1976.
The backplate only says "made in Japan" in thick stamped-in letters, so it was built most probably in 1973, 1974 or first half of 1975.

As mentioned before: the wooden tailpiece insert is missing and the bridge (at least the upper gold part) is non-original. As far as I can see the tuners are replacements too (Grover?).

As a collector I would say: it's a pity and because all of this missing/replaced hardware (that is very hard to find if you'd like to restore it) I would pay no more than 400 bucks. But if you don't care about originality as long as the guitar plays and feels good, one might be willing to bid more.

Kind greetz,
Harry
