I haven't been playing much over the past year (and wasn't very good on electric when I did play). Still, I couldn't resist when I spotted an old Ibanez ES-175 copy at a pawn shop while traveling this weekend. (No serial # so I'm thinking it's a '74/'75). Super nice condition.

I got it home and I've been playing it. It sounds great but I still suck. I guess I'm having a little buyer's remorse. Despite the fact that it's a sweet guitar, I realize I don't "need" it and probably won't use it much.

I'm on the fence about keeping it. The problem is that it didn't have a case with it so I'll probably need to spend another $150 on it before I can sell it.

Anyway, I'm just throwing this out there. If somebody is really looking for a blonde 2616, get in touch with me via private e-mail. If I sell it I want to make a little money on it so it's not going to be bargain basement priced but it would be fair.

BTW, I didn't put this is the classifieds because it's not really an offer to sell just yet. I'm just thinking out loud. Again, if someone is on a hunt for a es175 type guitar and is willing to pay a fair price maybe we should talk.

Mac,

All you need is a DREADNOUGHT case with an arched lid. I use a Lonestar case for my Zephyr Regent. I think $80-90 will be enough.

Please, let us enjoy those star inlays and bindings by posting some pics!

I finally got around to shooting some photos of my new 2616 (Man, I need to do something about the nasty indoor/outdoor carpeting on my deck!) . . .

I've all but decided to keep the guitar for a while rather than sell it. Though, I suppose there is such a thing as an offer too good to pass up.

So, that being said, here's a few photos. The guitar is damn near pristine. It's only got a few issues as far as I can tell. A long crack (just in the finish, I believe) eminating from one of the knob holes. I shorter crack (again just in the finish I think) at the jack location. Also there's a split/crack in the binding at the rear of the heel. Maybe you can see it in the photos:

Yeah, I read that, but I don't believe I ever got the prompt for images. Could it be because I'm using Safari on a Mac?

Keep the 2616. It's a beauty.

And guaranteed as you play it more, the sucking will end.
