Hi, im wondering if anyone can suggest a high-quality gig bag that would fit an am200. Ive been using a hardshell case, but it can be a drag when I need to walk long distances with the guitar. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Atlas I bought a generic case for one of my guitars. It is styrofoam cored and is very light but sturdy. Let me try and do a search and get back to you!

thanks alot ibanezfreak. I really appreciate the help. I guess what im looking for is something that I can carry on my back but is sturdy enough to take on crowded subways.

Thanks alot. I checked out the site and it looks great. Im not sure of the exact dimensions of my guitar, but do you think itl work or be to big for the am200? Approximatley how much bigger should a case be than a guitar for a standard fit? I may just go ahead and order the case since musicians friend offers a 45 day return policy. Thanks again!

You r welcome, I think it has the dimensions there. You can measure your guitar and see how close it is.

Personally I would keep a semi-acoustic in a HSC, but I have some nice gigbags to for my solid electrics.
I have 2 Gibson gigbags for one of my The Pauls and my handbuilt Hillman Longhorn with Ibanez hardware (I'll tell you about it sometime). One was made by LEVYS and the other by TKL. These two are the strongest, but have no backpack straps.
Then I have a few Superior gigbags for my Japanese and Korean Strat copies. They're nice because they have backpack straps.

And a few months ago I bought an original Ibanez gigbag for my Ibanez RT. Really good strong nylon. Almost like a Gibson, but less expensive.
But I think it's too slim for an AM.

I googled for superior gigbag electric and found this in the UK (including some more expensive alternatives):

I have some C166 for my strats and the C168 for one of my basses. They're good value for the money.
I guess the Silver OGS3 is even stronger. (no experience).
I'll take some measurements on my AM50 later.
We're going for a walk now, it's the first cool day in between heat waves in Holland.

Until then...

Ginger

Thanks alot for the information Gemberbier. I agree a hardshell case is ideal in terms of protection, but it just gets too heavy (and puts too much stress on my hands) when I have to walk 20 or so minutes to a gig. I will patiently await your next post. Enjoy your walk!

Body Glove makes a line of heavy duty gigbags that might fit your AM. A buddy of mine has one and it is quite durable looking.

Describing my AM50 as a human body, I measured:
hips: 36 cm (about 14.17")
shoulders: 25.5 cm (about 10.04")
The Ibanez gigbag appeared to be too slim, because the zipper ends just above the hips, so you have to press it in, and the zipper could cause damage to the finish.
A Gibson gigbag would fit, but they're too expensive (about €100.=)
The Superior bags would fit, but I find them to light quality for a vintage semi-acoustic.
Like Tim said: Ritter is really good.
Body glove I know only of mobile phone bags. I guess they are really expensive.
Because the Silver gigbag on the English gigbag looks a lot like Ritter, I tink you should compare these two and go for the best price.

Thanks alot Ginger, really appreciate the information and advice. I will definatley compare the ritter models with the silver gigbag. I wish they listed dimensions online, but I guess ill have to call or email the companies to figure that out. Im probably going to order a gig bag sometime tomorrow afternoon or evening, so ill let you know which one I chose. Once again, thanks alot for the help, as well as everyone else who responded to my post!
Best, Andrew.

Atlasblue25, the Ritter RG9000 fits very well, actually i'm on the road (Central America) with my AM205 in this bag.Advantage is that it fits very well in the Airplane Luggage Bins, so its stays with you.
