On guitars with a hex nut, I've been able to loosen and remove the truss rod nut, clean the threads on the rod, reinstall the nut and tighten the nut more than before doing this process.
Is it the same for guitars that have an allen wrench adjustment? i.e. can you loosen an allen wrench type to remove the end?
