Man, what a thriller!
The whole auction there was only 1 bidder at $999,- for this beautiful 2453 Howard Roberts replica. Could be our recent new member Doc.
I followed the last 3 minutes, and it was really amazing what happened:
177 seconds nothing at all, and then...
3 seconds before the auction ended, a sniper struck with a $1124.- bid. Doc's safety bid ($1099.-) from 40 minutes before end of auction didn't help:

This only shows you never can tell...
I don't know whether there had been a reserve or not, but what I know is, that the seller did NOT set a BIN price, so nobody knew what he exactly needed to bid to actually acquire the guitar.

Let's learn from this! If you have the time/patience to wait the whole auction period for the result (read: money), then NOT using a BIN could lead to new price records.

Hello Ginger

What You just discribed i have seen several times
maybe. I find it werry amysing to se when it occour. But some times nothing happens the last minute. Last time i saw nothing happened was a ES 175 standing on 695 EUR for 8 ours before closing and it was sold for 695 EUR. I was convinsed that it would fly up to at lest 900 to 1000 eur.

Its all in the art of sniping.. Although I do not like very much about snipers, that is the way it goes..I guess that there is very little to be done, but put your own maximum bis quite high, and maybe raise it if feels so..
Some items attract snipers, some dont. :-)
Really nice Howard Roberts...

Uffe,

That's why advised Asle to set a pretty high RESERVE, so that it wouldn't go for $695.- or even less.
As a seller you should show this "take-it-or-leave-it attitude", or else you get screwed.

I'm glad that Asle decided to set a reserve after all, he could have lost his 2355 for $361,-

I don't want to see that happen...
