Some on eBay now...here: http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-1751-2978-71/1?AID=5463217&PID=1802666&mpre=http%3A//cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll%3FViewItem%26item%3D260050163088

Look at these wax potted pups. There's a bowl of wax in the bottom!

I need to reload by 50s...more wax! more wax! Keep chanting...

And they are stickered F (Front) and R (Rear).
It's always nice to know, which is which.

A very good option for a 1994/early '95 AS120 of AF120 with an S serial# (Samick production) and Super 50's. They are gold plated, so if you put them in an AS83 you should change all the hardware from chrome to gold. And that will cost you.
(Good gold plated machine heads, bridge, tailpiece)

Changing the covers would destroy the potting.

IMO not the most logical option for your AS83...
I think you should go for chrome.

Well, he says they came out of his AR300, which has gold hardware, so they should be gold.
But now you mention it. Could be mirroring the amber color of the oak table.

Either they come out of an AR300 and are gold, or they are chrome and not out of an AR300.
If the first is true the second can't be true, and if the second is true the first can't be true.

What do you think...?

Perhaps it is wise to ask the seller if they are gold plated.

Recent AR300s are from Korea and have chrome hardware, including the pups (from the 2006/2005 and 2004 parts list). So I guess they could be gold from a much older AR300, or they are newer and chrome. The ebay picture looks gold on my 'puter.

I have some questions: is wax potting normal for factory Super 58s? I didn't think so. Why do they have "SP" on the label?

I sold a pair of those last year, they were identical (and chrome :-), the one with the red wire labelled "front", the one with the green wire labelled "rear". I guess "SP" just stands for "Super".

Those pups pictured are the new ones, and after seeing a couple sets IRL, I must say they come with chrome covers. Soundwise they are quite near to those vintage Super58s but they lack something..
Older Super58s are without wax, unless some previous owner had had them potted..

Here's what the seller replied:

"They're chrome. I bought the guitar new Feb 2006 so it's probably a 2005."

Thanks for the info guys.I hope I get them, cause I am sure they will improve my sound immensely.I've got another Ibanez 78(Les Paul) to which I changed the neck pup to a Seymour Duncan Jazz ,and the bridge to Jeff Beck. The sound now is great both for jazz and for blues and rock. And now I bought the AS83 I haven't touched it or my Fender.I think that semis are definitely my thing(the more I get into jazz ) and getting that sound plus a great blues sound will, hopefully, stop me looking for more.

Congrats, 1300Longhair
These $107.50 are a good investment IMO. Your guitar will improve enormously.
The wood of the AS83 is beautiful already, so now this guitar as it should be.

It was the amber oak reflected in the covers that we saw as gold.

P.S.I hope we get to keep the guitars in case we separate.

Congrats longhair, I was wondering what they went for. If you remember I was bidding but backed out so you could take them as I already have a pair. Those were just extra for me. Let me know how they sound wax potted like they are. And if you dont mind, what the R reading is on them. Both neck and bridge. THanks MIke

Thanks Mike. They went for $107.I don't know if that price is good, cause I was just comparing with the £100 I spend on a neck Seymour/Duncan jazz pup.So for two pups for £60 sounded like a good deal to me.I just hope that the sound is as good as the price. We are all after that elusive Sco sound, but without the heavy price tag.Let you know how it goes with them when I put them.
