I have a 1981 ibanez as100 bought in australia,,,and i do have the sales brocure to match the guitar also from 1981/82,,,,,,,,,mine says spruce top mahogany back and sides,,mahogony neck,,super 58 pickups,tune o matic etc,etc,,,,mine is also translusent cherry and the grain in the timber is outstanding,,,,,,,,,i have looked on other sites and never saw another one like mine,,,and even saw one advertised as having a cedar top,,i thought that was weird,,,,,,were these only sold in our part of the world like mine cherry see through,,spruce,mahogany etc,,,,,,,or is this common,,,,,,,we also have a yamaha we bought new just a few years ago and it was listed as being for the pacific region only,,,,,,,,,,,,,did ibanez do this in} the 80,s like yamaha is doing of late.,,,we also have a floral jem,1988,, a S540 LTD in black signed by frank gambale to boot ,, all have full pro setups,,,and are devine}}

An AS100 with a spruce top? Doesn't sound at all familiar. They are listed as having a birch top in the '79 and '80 semi-acoustic catalog. But switch to maple tops, starting in 1981.
