Hi,

I'm a new member and think this site is great! I have been reading the posts about the gassing of the pickguard and tailpiece trim on the GB10 and wondered if this is an issue on newer GB10s.

I just bought a new 2006 GB10 and wanted to know if I will need to be concerned about this in future. I was considering getting the wooden pickguard for the GB100 as a replacement.

Any thoughts?

Hi GB10NT,

I do not know the answer to your question, but I'm sure someone will chime in with the correct answer shortly. Just wanted to say welcome to the ICW and contratulations on the new axe.

Maybe post a review of your guitar if you have a chance. I for one will be interested to read your comments.

Best regards,
Darryl

Hi Gb10nt~ And welcome to the ICW. I have a '97 GB10NT and have had Zero problems with gassing plastic. It is my understanding that Ibanez's suppliers improved the materials in the 90's, so your '06 should be as good or better than the older ones.

Maybe one of the other guys here can give you more info, but I think you are safe.

Enjoy your '06 GB10 and give us a review of it sometime. Some have asked if the newer models are 'as good' as the older ones. You have the distinction of being the owner of the newest GB10 that I can recall.

Thanks Wildfield and Guitartim for your quick replies and feedback. I will post pics and a review in the near future. I have only had the guitar for a week and would like to spend more time playing it before giving it an in-depth review. So far, it just kills! One beautiful instrument.

Welcome to ICW GB10NT,

The guitar you bought is my favourite. I'm very fond of naturals and the tailpiece is IMO the most beautiful tailpiece ever made.

The first time I saw one was in 1990 or so...
The price was ƒ2495.- (about €1100.-) about 50% of a Gibson L-4CES Natural.
That has changed a bit...
