I've got the af120 MIK. How does a MIJ am 50 stack up against it for jazz sounds or what is the difference between the two?
(Also I have a negotiated buy price of US $870 for the am50 and I wondered what you all thought of the price. VG condition OHSC).
thanks much

An AM50 doesn't sound jazzy at all.
It's quite trebly (all maple) and more a blues-rock axe.
I bought my AM50 years ago, so that's not a fair comparison. The one Saltapaya bought a few months ago was over 1500 dollars, but he has difficulty selling it. He writes about the possibility of buffing the driver's licence nr out of the headstock. If that's possible, he should do it right away. The body finish looks fantastic.

Michael Kaufmann has a good one too, but he doesn't have to earn back $1500.-

But don't expect a jazz sound.
