That's a lovely piece of work from the brand on which I took my first lessons when I was nine years old. How do you call this construction? Doubleneck-through-body?

Very nice...

JohnS, Have you ever owned a RS850 from the same era? Similar looking but obviously a regular guitar and probably one of the most unique sounding guitars ever.

Don't know what an RS850 is. An Aria model?

Hello John, I bought this Aria ST-1512 Super Twin. I lost the auction but due to the winner being a no show with contact and money I was able to buy the guitar off Ebay from the seller. its mint [REALLY] played very little I'm sure as its a "Double". has the case candy also, huge strap from Harris Music High Point N.C and warranty tag from Tillman Distributers,Charlottle N.C. who were the importers for Aria guitars back in the day.it plays, looks, and sounds unreal,I've only seen one other 1512 on Ebay many years ago and that one wasen't near this condition,a very rare piece, very lucky to have gotten this one. big difference in the angle of the necks on this Aria, as compared to the ar1200. The necks on the ar1200 are basically perpendicular to each other, whereas, these necks flare away from each other. I like the look of the straight necks as opposed to these flared necks but this is still one neat looking guitar. It commanded a decent price.

Fantastic acquisition! The seller seemed to really know his stuff about Japanese guitars. Nice to do business with someone who knows what he's talkng about. The auction had 15 unique bidders. Lots of people after it.

2 questions: how does it sound, compared to a 2640/AR1200 and how much does it weigh?

Hi John, Well it really sounds wonderful, the pickups on these are very nice, clear note definition and sustain to write home about, the build quality is really top notch on this............but then I knew that, thats why I bought this,I HAD one just like it before and I traded off in a moment of weakness, these are VERY tough to find and in this condition well.........compared to AR1200 I'd say its on the same ballfield ......... WHAT!!!!!!!................. really its a amazing guitar just to look at,and it plays and sounds as nice as AR1200 W/O a doubt. I really like this guitar alot just because it doesen't look like any other doubleneck, weight wise on a postal scale I got a hair over 15 LBs.,its ash and maple construction and its solid so its almost expected in something this size. the seller did indeed know his stuff, had a retail store at one time and is now doing the at home Ebay thing, guitar and music related items are his bread and butter but he also deals in some antique items also,a super nice guy and a real gentleman to deal with.[Thanks Larry!] Doubleone
