I found an interview with KIEFER SUTHERLAND (Flatliners, and Jack Bauer in 24) and guess what: the guy collects:

And it seems that Gibson paid to put his initials on a guitar the KS-336.

BTW, I would really like to compare this translation with the original English interview.
Ah, I found it... just change the country and go to news and then interviews:
http://www.gibsoneurope.com/smartsite.dws?id=8426

They translated
"Just the breaking down of the patina in the gold paint"
with:
"Gewoon het afbreken van de glans in de goudverf"
But "glans" is gloss not patina.

Now the Germans:
"Allein wie die Jungs vom Custom Shop den Zerfall der Patina im Goldlack geschafft haben?"
http://www.gibsoneurope.com/smartsite.dws?id=8695

It's a bit difficult to understand what he actually means with "the breaking down of the patina in the gold paint".
