My favorite ebay moment was this sellers answer to a dumb question. The guitar was at $350.00, he had already posted 2 requests people had sent him to repost it as a "buy it now" along with his polite response that he was going to let the auction run its course.

Some goof asked him to make it a "buy it now" again for the price it was currently at with like 4 days left to go. Here's his response verbatim:

A: Do you like impressions? Here's my best Sam Kinnison "BUY-IT-NOW? YOU WANT A BUY-IT-NOW THEN WALTZ YOUR A-- DOWN TO YOUR LOCAL MUSIC SHOP AND PLUNK DOWN $650.00 LIKE I DID, AND YOU CAN BUY-IT-NOW....THIS IS EBAY, THE ONLINE AUCTION PLACE, OHHH,OOOHHH!!! ... Thank you, Tim

Tim, unfortunately, most people never make it to the bottom of the text. My favorite eBay moment was when I scored a pristine SV470 for $200. and then this showed up on my doorstep a week later:

I always love the non guitar folks who seem to think the length of a guitar is some important piece of buying information.

LOL! Funkle, Did you send that back as it arrived or did you dare to open it? I fell off my chair laughing looking at that packing job! But you can be sure if it were me that received that I wouldn't be laughing.

Dennis,

I was pretty horrified when I saw it, but then I busted out laughing. I emailed the seller and scolded them, they apologized, and said that they had no idea of how to ship a guitar. I ended up giving them positive feedback with "creative packaging" in the comment section :-)

We all think of guitars as being so fragile, but as a testament to the quality of this guitar, it survived without a scratch, and has gone on to be one of my favorites. The guitar survived a perilous voyage to get to me. I think it adds to it's character :-) I'll never sell it.

Altough I'm not a fan of the V. I certainly wouldn't mind owning a quality Ibanez guitar such as that one.

Well, I asked about the bridge, and the response was:

"Whats a bridge? I'm not familiar with guitars and don't know the terminology."

Enough said...

I WILL be going after this one in case anyone is interested. May the best sniper win :-)!

Hey I don't mean to rain on this "snipefest" , but in your zeal to out snipe each other (believe me, its very tempting) anyone take a good look at this sellers feedback ? Most expensive item purchased was $24.99, most items under $3..Hate to be a naysayer, but doesn't that send up a red flag, or are we blinded by the Ibanez bug ?

Consider that the seller does know what he's got, it has a neck shaped like a banana and someone is gonna get stung.

Don't get suckered fellas.

Paul, Don't back off on my account. If you want it, go for it!

I asked for more photos right after they responded about the bridge, but nothing yet.

Dave/Six you're absolutely right and I'm trying to be as careful as I can. On the other hand, if this thing stays in 500-600 range, it may be worth taking a shot at that price. I'm trying to get a better idea about the seller by inducing a conversation through email, but they're not real responsive. If I get more photos, I'll post 'em.

Jeff, I will hold my horses. No need to make this one more expensive than neccesary. My time will come. These are not THAT unique.
Like I mentioned above, there are two over here right now. Just need to figure out what they should go for. Any idea?

For what it's worth: I got a nice email conversation going on with the seller and all seems sincere to me.

BTW: I get a feeling that claiming you'll bid/snipe on a guitar over here does help! I think it helped me with my 2661, it probably helped Justin to his 2671 and it helps you right now by getting rid of me.

Paul, I've seen these go from anywhere between 700 and 1300 usd, with most falling right around 1000. There's not many that come up, but when they do they seem to generate a ton of interest.

I have received answers to my questions today. The seller seems sincere to me as well.

tube, Don't think its authentic....the Brass beauties would have had additional brass parts like the input jack plate, nut, and knobs. In addition, the v2's were put on the lower end Artists-this would be the third natural finish dot neck '81 I have seen-someone just added the pickguard, knobs and selector switch . These guitars are awesome, but not all that unusual...

Tubescorcher:

I agree with Dave_G. It looks like those knobs and tuners are not original, also. The guitar is one that somebody has cared for a lot. The upgrades are tasteful.

I'm not even sure that you could order a "Brass Beauty" AR300. Can anybody confirm that?

As the catalog page shows, you could order the parts separately and do the uprgrades yourself...well you would need a pro for the nut.

Hi Guys
I used to sell 'Brass upgrade' kits for different guitars - guess this ones for a LP. They were popular for a very short time.

Incidentely - I have an unused and uncut brass nut for a LP/SG/Exploere/Flying V. Any offers ?

Guys:

I wondered to myself "would ebay pull this auction if they knew about this picture"? Then I was faced with the same decision, because it was uploaded here. So I deleted it. If any of you want to save the image for posterity's sake, that's why you have free space on your hard drives.

For the future, please remember that my intention is that ICW be a place where all persons, regardless of age, gender, nationality, etc., etc. can come to get and share information about Ibanez (and related) guitars without fear of being unnecessarily offended. If this is construed as censorship, so be it. Get a domain name and a hosting company and start your own site.

Johns, I can not confirm the question
"I'm not even sure that you could order a "Brass Beauty" AR300. Can anybody confirm that? " but the one AR300 BrassBeauty I have has the nut fixed in the assembly line. So there was at least some "brass Beauties" available, maybe on a special order- basis.. Of course there are complete brass fitting- kits available,I remember that about a year ago there was one full set of brass parts for Ibanez Artist for sale on "flea-bay", unfortunately the price went far beyond my target..
Maybe that AR100 was equipped with the aforementioned replacement parts sans control knobs..
