Has consideration ever been made to add links on this already cool site to guitar retailers who specialize in Ibanez products?

There are a few online Ibanez dealers who might be considered such as Freds Music, The Guitar Factory, Instrument Pro for starters. Also, some members may have dealers that they've had positive Ibanez buying experiences that they'd like to add.

What do you guys think?

That's a good idea. May be we can help create a few stores in different parts of the country specialize in Ibanez guitars owned by people who are knowledgable in Ibanezes.

That sounds like a great idea. I know of some online sellers. Also, it would be nice if we could plug any local stores that have a good selection. The only good one I've found so far in the SF bay area is http://www.haight-ashbury-music.com/. They have a decent cross section of guitars, including the occasional PM or GB model.

Funkle~ I didn't know Haight-Ashbury carried so much stuff. I've got to get over there and do a gitfiddle inspection.

Sure wish their website had more information about their guitar inventory though.

How are the deals there?

FWIW:

Over at the LPF, those guys are really positive about the shops that advertise on that site.

I think MrRoadstar and Spiro should have some serious opinions on this one.

Tim,

Are you in the Bay Area? Haight-Ashbury has a decent selection, not huge - a preferable alternative to guitar center. Not as many Artcores, but they do have a few SZs and other models that GC refuses to stock. And they keep a better watch on their stock, so you will not see any "new" guitars that are covered in dents and scratches lake at GC

Gary Brawer usually has a handful of vintage Ibanez guitars. Last time I was there, they had an ES175 copy, a LP copy, a musician, maybe an AR, and a Maxxas.

Funkle~ Yep, I'm sittin' on the dock of the Bay as we speak...sort of!

Thanks for the heads up about H-A Music. I'll definitely stop in.

Cool, we need to have an ICW bay area chapter event. Bigmike, jerryneves and pgray are also locals.

Cool store, but you may walk out of H-A music smelling like incense and patchouli :-)

Funkle~I'm working on getting together with Bigmike soon. He's got a new 'toy' I'm anxious to check out!

I like the idea of a Bay Area Chapter ICW event. I can see it now... Outdoor Ibanez sponsored concert with gorgeous scantily-clad dancing girls and free food included!

OK, it'll probably be limited to PB&J sandwiches and old-fart drooling guitarists in a garage with a sleeping dog in the corner!

guys, I need help on finding an online store that carries used-guitar in states.
I was looking for RG 770 FM, 565, and few others, but they only appear on ebay.
I prefer to stay away from ebay for some reason.

thank u,

MP,

I've found that most stores selling used guitars have a large markup. Maybe this is the price you pay for having the option to make returns. I think eBay is an ideal venue for buying used guitars. I have had very little trouble in my 5 years and 100 transactions. Just stick to sellers with higher feedback and you'll be very safe. Most experienced sellers go above and beyond, providing excellent customer service.

JohnS,

I would propose that ICW members provide information on local, or mail-order retailers that they have had good experiences with, and would recommend. Maybe we could have a links section with stores organized by locale.

I have another one to add: B Street Music in San Meteo, CA
http://www.bstmusic.com/
I just went there on Saturday for the first time. They have a very nice selection of guitars and amps, including a large Artcore section - they have most of the line. An OK solid body selection, but no SZs or ARs. I mentioned that SZs seemed to be selling well, and the salesman said "Hmm, I'll order a few!" This was a very refreshing change from the typical guitar center experience.

Funkle,

Let me know when and how many SZ models he actually gets.

Also, what other brands do they carry?

Steve, I had limited time there, but from what I remember, they had Schecter, PRS, Fender, Parker and Brian Moore. They had lots of acoustics, including the Yamaha silent guitar. Several travel and Steinberger style guitars, which I am very interested in. Genz Benz amps, which I want to spend some time with. They also had a shiny new GB10 up high on the wall with my name written all over it!
