I bumped into a pretty nice Canadian-made (eh?) black rectangular case with a white Ibanez logo (that I should have left alone). Was hoping to get an RG or a Tele into it. Oops--- everything was just dandy except the body will not clear the case--too wide. Any ideas on what narrow-bodied models this was made for? Either gonna hafta sell it or buy something that fits. Thanks.

Please pay no attention to that man behind the curtain, nor to that extra "h". Now, what will fit in this, again?

One possibility is, that youīve got a case for Ibanez Ghostrider? Even though I think that itīs quite normal, width that is, but itīs extremely short for a guitar.. I dunno..

Impulse shopping again, eh? LOL

Fox might have the correct answer. Ghostriders had their own unique shap and case to match. However, all the ghostrider cases I've seen have been form fitting.

You say an RG Series is too wide? That cause me to say, "Hmm". RG's are about as narrow as it gets.

I got a nice TKL case like you describe with my SZ320GD. Have to compare it to my RG750 to see if its wider or not. Will do so tonight.

Paul that would be the RG550LC case. it fits left or right hand guitars in the SZ line plus a few others.

Brian,

I guess I did not make myself clear. I tried to say I got a TKL case like Tonedef described which came with and thus fits my SZ320GD. Other than that I bought a new RG750AR (killer guit buy the way!)way back in my shredder years. That came with a non original case but tonight I'll try and fit the RG750 in the TKL case to see if I can help Tonedef. If my case won't fit my RG, I might have the same case as Tonedef and I could tell him it fits SZ models like mine does. Now won't that be cool?

I understood what you said I was just giving the model number for the SZ cases. The RG series cases are M100C plastic molded case available from Ibanez.

You guys are throwing around too many model numbers. All of the cases mentioned have basically the same interior dimensions.

Nothing in the Ibanez line is narrower than an RG. If an RG won't fit, I'm stumped as to what the case is for.

For those who may still have doubts, I just did a side-by-side comparison of an RG, an SZ, a JS, an AWD, an AXD, and an S. The RG has the narrowest body.

Tonedef, does your case look like this:

Text description

This case came with the SC1620 I just bought. It is a strange case - the SC is a little too wide at the lower bout, and so is my RT450 (same size as an RG). The SC fit perfectly in an M100C however. I couldn't find a case at ibanez.com that looked like this, with the the flutes that wrap around the ends, then I noticed that the case for my RV542 (same body as a Satriani) looked very similar. Sure enough, the RV fits perfectly. I think what I have is some kind of case designed for the JS and Radius models. Ibanez, however lists the M100C for the JS and R models. But the RV fits way more snugly in this mystery case than in the M100C.

Paul, ummmm, looks like I'm lost again. I'm thinking the W50xx is the model number of the case, perhaps? If so, what Ibanez model(s) fit(s) into this goofy little case? Is it the SZ320GD? Thanks!

Hey Brian: I snagged this pic from the Ibanez site, so it is their typenumber for the case.

Tonedef: You are correct in your last post (I think.....)Seems to me these cases are named W50 and the additional letters stand for the guitars that they fit. All SZ guitar models should in the W50SZ and all the RG guitar models should fit in the (smaller) W50RG.

There is no W model cases on the USA site. Click on the 1st link and it takes you to an SZ model then click on case for SZ720FM and it leads you to the RG550LC and the 2nd link that list all USA cases available at this time.

OK Les Paul, I am closing in on it thanks to you. I am guessing not all "S" models will fit, only certain "S" models? If so, how can I tell if I have an RG model case, or an SZ case? I hope you have one of each so you can give me a measurement-I'm betting the only difference is in the width. Sorry to be such a goofus, but I either have to find something that fits, or unload this thing!

Maybe I'll send it to Mr. Roadstar, and let him find something to go in it (I caught your comment, btw. How was I supposed to know a regular axe wouldn't fit? I just thought this case was compact...). Maybe I'll just cut down one of my Roadstars.....

Thanks LP!

Tonedef, M100C will be a perfect fir for S series including: S, SC, SA, SV, and SF models. Not sure if an SZ will fit though. It seems strange that Ibanez recommends a left handed RG case for a right handed SZ.

Sven, When I got an SZ for someone and I read the purchase order I thought the case was a lefty because of the LC in the number and tried to return it without bothering to see if it fit. I was then told it is made for both left and right hand SZ guitars. I still don't get why they call it that because its confusing.

Seems to me the same case is typenumbered RG550LC AND W50SZ by Ibanez at the same time.

Nice guits buy the way!

Tonedef: my case is 37,5 cm (=14.76") external width. The SZ body is at its widest point (where it meets the case lining) 33 cm (=13")

And LP, you are right { " } is inches.

Well, I have another curve to throw at you. My case has 40 inches in the clear length wise, and 12 inches of interior width. Any other ideas?

Tonedef,

Only thing I can tell you now is that the W50SZ (AKA RG550LC) case is also 40" internal clearance but it seems your case is 1 full inch smaller in width.
Maybe someone can tell what size an W50RG case is. All I know is its smaller as a W50SZ.

This is becoming a long thread in this way.

Gee whiz, Freak--if you had to help me with .76 being 3/4 of an inch, do you think I can figure out how to post a photo? Ain't gonna happen. Anyway, it looks just like the photos of the W50 cases LP posted, except mine does not have the white piping over the top.
I will be more than happy to sell this, as soon as I can figure out what goes in it (I don't want it coming back because.. "my guitar won't fit").

I think, it's for an ICX220. However, the link doesn't work, and it indicates that an ICX200C is the proper case.

John,

Same thing that attracts me to most all Artists: feel, sound, looks. I can only compare the new models to the ones I have owned (2618-12, AR112, AR120, AR200). Based on that, the new AR200/300 are as nice as any. The trapazoid inlays on the 300 are a bit over the top, but the burst finishes and flame tops are sweet. Since I have no need or want for the Tri-Sound switches, their absence is a plus. The AR200 Gold Top wins points for a clean simple look. Now if the damned things weren't so neck-heavy, I'd own one again.

How did we get on this subject?
