With Ibanez guitars, the first two digits after the letter should tell you the year, I believe, so it should be a '78. It seems like this would still be the case with Greco, but I can't say for sure.

It does seem strange that the last four would make a pretty believable date as well. I honestly don't know if that's a coincidence or not.
