Aw man, thats sweet. We missed him when he toured through Seattle (just found that out last night). Although we caught him at Jazz Alley for his Sapphire Blues tour.

Did he play anything off his Fire Wire recording?

I saw the gig he done with Lukather a few years back. They were both awesome but Larry has a magic touch and even Luke is humbled in his presence.

I saw him at the Blue Note in Las Vegas (now gone) 5 or 6 years ago. He took requests at the end of his show, and ended the night with my shouted request - Sleepwalk. Great performance.

Freak:

It was really great! First time I've seen him live. The Blue Note in NYC is really small and cozy. I was only about 10 feet from him. He was doing the Sapphire Blue thing, so he had 4 horns, keyboard, bass and drummer; all on a tiny stage.

His son is the bass player, btw. Very good, played a 5 string Sadowsky bass. The stage was so crowded that two of the horn players had to kneel down to give him the spotlight when he did a bass solo.

Brent:

I'm not familiar with the Firewire CD. But here's what I saw from his set list:

Friday Night
Ou Oui Si (don't know if this is spelled right)
Night Sweats
Josie
Minute By Minute
Smiles
Cool Trane
Just An Excuse
7 For Ya
Deep Into It
Tenor Madness
Encore: Inkblot

He also added the acoustic Song for Katie. I believe it was after Smiles. Then he did Blues for TJ (his son Travis). Not sure if he dropped anything out of the set list to fit these in.

Very cool.

I'm not sure about the Fire Wire CD either. I just checked his website the other night and saw he was releasing it in Japan on August 8th or something... more of a 'rock' style album (cd).

That's cool he's still touring with his son. I was impressed also when I saw him play.

Cool. This is one player I'd love to see live.

I'm a bit of a Magnum PI fan, and I downloaded the theme song from iTunes. It is an album of re-recorded Television theme songs by Mike Post. And Mr. 335 lays town some tasty licks over these themes. I wonder if he played on the original Magnum theme, which has some cool guitar parts?
