GAMBALE'S YAMAHA AES-FG - ANY OPINION...

Author Message Petruz Username: Petruz Registered: 05-2004 Posted on Thursday, October 06, 2005 - 4:38 am:    hi to all recently i read some impressive reviews about frank's new yamaha axe, AES-FG. it seems that he and yamaha did a great job, with some revolutionary ideas... has someone tried one of these? there's a funny, nice litte video of him COOKING with this axe in d'addario's site (www.daddario.com - search for "artist" - "gambale" and select video). Still, looks-wise, it doesn't thrill me. Frank also says he has two SA2200s. These are fairly close to AS200s in specs. They have push-push, Hum/Single Coil Tone pots. I'd rather have one (or two) or these: Petruz Username: Petruz Registered: 05-2004 Posted on Monday, October 10, 2005 - 5:36 pm:    well, my reasoning is very simple: after having played a terrific ibanez for so many years, gambale's new axe had to be simply tremendous. one very interesting detail are the machine head posts wich have different lenghts, permitting the strings to run off the nut straight into the pegs. some guys (including scofield) say this feature (on the AS200) improves tonal balance and sustain. Back on topic...the Gambale model doesn't move me.
