This site is worth checking out if you want to learn about Carvin's 50 year history:

I read through the entire guitar history last night and it was very interesting. There were some similarities with Ibanez, including it's auspicious beginnings. Carvin's designs were innovative and offered a lot of bang for the buck, but were not as aesthetically pleasing as Ibanez IMO.
