How does one deal with a noisy Strat-like (S-S-S) guitar?

Kinman! Kinman! Kinman!

Didn't we go through this already?

I've tried LOTS of single coil pickups, and Chris kinman's pickups sound wonderful and have zero noise. I whole heartedly recommend his pickups.

If you want to stay with traditional single coils this will help.

Yes...I saw the guitarnuts writeup the other day. Has anyone tried it?

I remember reading that guitar nuts shielding technique a while back. It seems like a lot of work. I wouldn't recommend it unless you're seriously in love with your traditional single coil pickups. And the rub is that all that shielding will change the sound of your pickups. There are plenty of good noise canceling pickups out there. Did I mention Kinman? :-)

The shielding will change the sound of your pickups because the NOISE will be missing! Tonally it will not change it at all. Other than that I recommend the Lace Holy Grails. They have polepieces so they look right and sound like a great Strat with a clean amp and a cross between a PAF and a P90 with overdrive.

Overdriver, if you place shielding close enough to the pickup, or replace the unsheilded wire, it can change the tone of the pickup. There are so many weird factors that made strats sound like strats, it's almost like the tone was a result of a lot of cost saving compromises.
