That's the 'come-on' I read in a recent San Francisco Bay Area Craigslist ad. The guy had great photos of a beautiful GB12, so you KNOW he had lots of hits.

I suspect this was a phony ad designed to phish for email addresses. He encouraged buyers to email him or call his phone...and "leave a message since he was rarely there...". Other red flags: No returned calls. No response to any emails. The location was out of the local area (600 miles ain't local!). He had cross-referencing ads for other stuff with the same 'instructions' for potential buyers to follow. I suspected it was a fake ad but called a few times over a few days from my cell phone's blocked number. I got an automated answering machine. (No response, of course), and from my work email that has the latest anti-spam prevention software. (No response)

I reported this jerk to Craigslist as a spammer and within a day, the ad was pulled. (But as with most recent Craigslist ads, the link is still available if you Google 'Ibanez GB12').

Craigslist is turning into the same slime pit that Ebay has in recent years due to a few bad apples like this guy. If I were seriously considering a purchase it would have to be an in-person deal in a public place and I'd bring a really big buddy with me. Some Craigslist sellers have been mugged and their goods stolen by would-be purchasers.

Have any of you heard about scams such as this on Craigslist?
