She's the announcer/part owner of the club. We visit that club fairly frequently, so I just snapped a photo of her thinking I might forward it on.
Yeah, I was front/center at the show... it wasn't very full as was a Sunday and his last show. We did meet him after the concert to chit-chat and take pictures (they didn't turn out very well). His technician was also extremely friendly. Gave me one of his pics, and talked about some of his gear and his pedal board. I really liked how he integrated the Korg tuner.
Yep, just him, his son Travis on bass, drums and keyboards (their names escape me).
I was right in front of his Dumble amp, and it got fairly loud (for me) during the show. Normally I bring earplugs to shows, but this time I didn't. So I used part of a cocktail napkin, which ended up getting stuck in my ear canal. I had to go to the ER to get it removed after all the home methods failed. I'm hoping to laugh about that someday soon.
Great show, love seeing him play... it was our third experience with Larry and this was the closest and most intimate. His opening song 'Goodbye' was so soulful it nearly brought me to tears. It just pours out of him. |

Brentm~ Great shots. Nice work.
My favorites are the shots of his set list. There is something really personal about viewing a guitar master's set list that brings us mere mortals closer to his gig.

You said the Dumble was loud but how was the tone?
I hear that the Two Rock amps are pretty close to the Dumble sound now.

Thanks for the compliments on the pictures.
His tone was amazing. Great cleans both with his 335's and his acoustic guitar. Also some nice overdriven sound, as his Firewire album leans a little on the rock side. It seemed very sensitive to his touch. Was the Dumble amp voiced for him (I presume it was)?
He never used the EQ boost (the wood pedal), but did use some nice chorus and delay patches on the TC Electronics M2000.
I've played a couple 335's at my vintage guitar shop and they sure were comfortable (and expensive). His tech mentioned that the vintage sunburst 335 was a gift from one of his fans. I think it was a 67 or 68. |
