Anybody ever seen anything like this Tokai with a "body pad" on the back?

John, You may be best asking this question over at the Tokai registry.

It's probably a Tokai from the 70's. Many Japanese original designs had the pad on the back of the guitar. I have a book, 'Bizarre Guitars' that has many original Japanese models as well as copies. It's a facinating browse only as it's printed in... Japanese of course.

I saw it last week.
Reminds me of the back of the Gretsch White Falcon.
Kind of funny actually...

That one pops up on ebay every now and then since a long time, the seller asks very optimistic prices for his other Tokais, too. I don't know though if or when that guitar was built by Tokai Gakki.
