It looks like there were two times in the day that messages disappeared. I myself was the victim of a deleted message. I can't say why, nor can I fix anything that has gone missing. If possible, please repost any messages that have disappeared (Thanks Dave_G and MK). I understand that there was also some "downtime" while I was away. All I can say is the Internet is a fickle mistress. My apologies for any inconveniences these problems may have presented. These things always happen to your long and better analysis, not to the bull. I remember someone wrote something about the black painted headstock (he missed the veneer). Was that you or Yogi? See what I mean: jokes about modern hairdo survive, but the serious stuff vanishes into thin air. So that's what's left for us: a little bit of humour and the cup that cheers, which I'm going to have right now. The earliest AR500's with the veneer I've seen so far were made in December 1980, which actually makes them '81 production models. So it seems that the AR500 in France is in fact a '80 model. The transition period from the 4-digit model numbers to the "AR" designations was earlier, as previously discussed. The headstock veneer appeared first only on the Limited Edition Artists and the AR500 for the '81 models. The AR300 and higher end models got that feature from 1983 on. However, I have an AR500 with quite a fine veneer on headstock, serial starts L80.. And my repair notes show that I have done some electronic repairs on an AR300, that had veneered headstock, however I can not check that, have I looked the serial right, I have marked as I82xxxx.. Anyway I have -83 February AR300 with veneer.. With Ibanez, everything is possible.. extremely fine guitars anyway.. And what comes to that "great transition" I did not mean that, I meant more subtle ones, eg. the headstock-veneer question.. Btw. my AR400 has smooth heel & thinner body plus Super80s as pickups.. Sorry for the inconvenieince to any who lost posts. Keep reporting any problems and try to supply as much detail as possilbe. We'll keep checking them out and hopefully we'll come up with some answers for the future.
