Greetings,
My name is Bob and I have been playing guitar for over 35 years. I toured with the US Army Band for many years. I said all that to say this, I have learned more about Ibanez guitars in the last few weeks lurking on this site then i have in all those years. Your collective knowledge and passion just astonishes me. I am glad i am allowed to join in on the friendly conversation and banter.I look forward to sharing pics of my giters and asking ???. Thanks again,

Bob

Welcome Bob!

Nice to have another old fart (myself included) among us, who's willing to share his knowledge & passion with US!

After having grown up as an Air Force brat & living in an Army & Navy town since (Virginia Beach), I've developed a strong appreciation for guys I've known & played with, who had the VAST experiences from playing in the military bands... ALL of which will be much appreciated in this forum.

Just maintain a thick skin & a good sense of humor & you'll get along fine with these (us) Ibanez zealots.

Greetings, thanks for the warm welcome.

I just bought a digital camera and now my son needs to teach me how to work the durn thing. as soon as that happens i will post some pics . I guess i am an old fuddy duddy becouse those carved up gitters may look kinda cool, they dont interest me. It might be different if i was rolling in the money, but i guess most of my thought processes would change as well.

Welcome Bob!

What I learned about digital cameras, is that you need a good OPTICAL zoom to get a good result. DIGITAL zoom sucks.
I hate the HP we have here.

These things seem to be made for women and children. I can't get used to them.

Making big band music with an Army Band, like Glenn Miller's must be really something. I once saw the Royal Navy Band in Plymouth, when I was staying there in a youth hostel, traveling through Devon and Cornwall: really impressive.

And as you might know, 34 members of our Dutch Army Brass Band died in a plain crash with a Hercules in Eindhoven in 1996, after which they had to build a new band from scratch.
My dad worked there on an old B-25 as a member of the Duke of Brabant Air Force. But they moved the Mitchell to another air base and put everything under supervision of the KLU after the Hercules and Dakota crashes. My dad's 75 now, so flying's over for him. Parts were his specialty as the stock manager of the foundation. I've got something with parts too. But the only bomb diving I'll do is on the guitar.

Greetings,

Ginger- It was a sad day not only in Holland but for all military musician worldwide. Having performed on 3 continents and more countries than i can remember, we were hosted by a lot of other country's military bands and got to know these guys and gals purty good. some are still friends today. In fact, I was in holland back in the fall of 1983. I got to perform for the Queen and a lot of the dutch military as well as the general population. We enjoyed a very warm welcome indeed. Thanks for bringing back some nice memories.
It would be nice to hear about other folks playing experiences, maybe its here already and I just need to find them, lol, .
