Hi All:

We're still in the planning stages for this site and want to make it the kind of place that Ibaneezers come to regularly. With that in mind, what kind of features do you want to see here?

I've been thinking about photo galleries and articles/interviews with collectors or musicians and even some representation from Ibanez. But these require contributions from various "outside" sources. We are working on this. If anybody wants to contribute, please contact me.

How about suggestions for more/new discussion topics? Or links to websites of interest to Ibanez fans? Let me know.

If anybody is interested in uploading pictures, but has thought it was too hard, let me know. It's a breeze.

Thanks,

JohnS

Hi JohnS.

This site is a great concept, however I have one major suggestion.

Often within a thread, a lot of interesting topics will generate out of the original post and people want to respond to one particular point and not the original post. With the current format everything jumbles together and it is hard to keep comments and replies separated.

My favorite Forum setup is Hypernews like is used at:

http://tremolo.harmony-central.com/HyperNews/get/guitar.html

and

http://www.jemsite.com/HyperNews/get/forums/jemsite.html

Just my humble opinion. I appreciate you doing this and with a change in the format this could be an awesome place!

Chad:

Thanks for the suggestions. I have been to both sites (as well as others) and the difference is certainly in the way the discussion software was designed. Each software package has advantages and disadvantages.

What I liked about this setup, is that you click once and read every message that has been written to the thread. With other discussion boards, I find I'm spending more time clicking on subthread links or using navigation icons or the back feature of the browser than I am reading messages.

On other boards, there's also a lot of "quoting" of earlier messages that is necessary to keep continuity in a conversation. This takes up space and causes more redundancy in reading.

It's easy to start a tangent thread, just go to the Topic page and press the Create a New Conversation button and write whatever.

Another great advantage of this software is the ability to include pictures with messages.

I think that getting use to different discussion software is like picking up a new guitar. Sure the neck, frets, pickups and body shape are different than your old, tried and true killer axe. But, give it some time and you start to experience things you never heard before.

Change is good! J

Please bear with the shortcomings and keep up the support for ICW. Maybe someday I'll find the"right" software.

In the meantime, I've got some good things lined up for future. I envision this site as a living organism that will evolve into something useful for all "Ibaneezers". But I'm only one man and this is done in my spare time. (I actually have a graphic design studio to run 12 hours a day.)

Thanks again Chad,
JohnS

Hi John, what about a forum where Ibanez fans could sell, swap, or give away copies of their own music? I'd be interested to hear what people are producing and what kind of sounds they're getting from their Ibanez guitars. Also I'd be happy to send anyone free examples of my work, just send me a postal address!
