I just picked up a used copy of Johnny Winter Captured Live! from '76 on cd yesterday and I can't believe I forgot how fantastic this group was.Closing in on 40 I lived through the musical transition from the 70's to the 80's where sadly,a lot of great music was lost and forgoten to make way for the new wave of power rock.Guitar took a great new direction in the 80's,for me Randy Rhoads says it all but in hearing this again the truthful honesty of the art,not the technicaly acuracy of it all,has just opened a door I've kept closed for a long time.Anyone who has heard Johnny should know what I mean. And he doesn't need to hide behind the gain.Even die hard metalheads can learn something here. You may not like the music style but the lead work can inspire a dead man to get up and plug in.And if your into slide,he's got that too,and then some.So do yourself a favor and go check him out.The newer stuff is blues but the older is straight forward rock and roll.If you like guitar you'll like like Johnny Winter.I think I'll go dig out my vinyl now.

Your a lucky man, never got to see him.Binghamton NY was a little left behind in the '70's but we did get Clapton,Cooper,Frampton,Black Oak Arkansas(my first show)etc..a lot of good memories, except maybe for Tony Orlando and Dawn or Frankie Valli but we won't talk about those shows.
