Has anyone played the Guitar Heroes or GH2 for Sony playstation2?

It's not really like playing guitar...but it is a lot of fun and can be as addictive as real guitar.

Nice Freak...could not have said it better. My kids wanted that game...I handed them a real guitar instead.

Freak:

It's not really about playing guitar or even learning music. The most it has in common with musical skills is timing and hand-eye coordination.

It's a game that's custom-designed to have a guitar-like experience. But it's so well done that guitar players will "get it". But that doesn't mean you'll have an advantage. When you loose playing Freebird to some little kid (who's played the game before), you do tend to get more competitive. :-)

Although, I had heard about it for months, I played it for the first time the other night. It's flexible enough that 7 to 57 year olds can have a blast. Nobody played on any other setting than Easy; there's Medium and Hard settings and tons of other advanced options.

You really have to experience it to appreciate it.

I plan on trying it just to give it a whirl and give it an honest review.

Unfortunately my Wife will not allow me to get this game.

Already spend too much time with my real guitars.

I think she is jealous of the time I spend with 'my girls'.

I've played it in the store where it was set up as a demo.

I tell you being creamed by some little kid in public is not good for the old ego!!!!!

As John says, it has absolutely nothing to do with playing real guitar other than co-ordinating approximate fretting and strumming motions together.

At the end of the day, if this game can inspire kids to listen to guitar music I am happy. If it gets 'em onto a real guitar then I am ecstatic!

Cheers,

Mark

Silver there has always been jealousy of guitars from women! It's funny but they see them as a rival or threat when we give them(guitars) too much attention.

Oh yeah... I think a lot of us have been caught up between the wife & 'the girls'.

Here we go... I can already feel a "Wives vs. Guitars" thread comin' on.

I forget what song it is but my son said playing on the hard setting on the game is tougher than actually playing the song on guitar.
