I'm curious how many other members have names for their guitars. Obviously some of us (Maniac) have WAY too many to name. Just ribbin' ya, Mike! :)

Anyway, several of mine have names. Not all, 'cause I just haven't yet found the right name for some of 'em. The color often influences the name.

RS1500 "Rita" (Brown Sunburst)
RG525 "Jessica" (Gun Metallic - dark blue/green)
RG440 "Chiquita" (Pearl White - aged to banana yellow)
RG420 "Lucy" (Cherry Ice - pink)
RG420 "Roxanne" (Black)
RG410 "Scarlet" (Pearl Red)
SF470 "Samantha" (Black)

Cheers
Steve

:oD I used to name 'em, but some guitars I have are a bit.. inpersonous, so I couldn't find a name that felt good. But I have female names for five of my guitars.

Natural maple Landola acoustic "Katariina" (Cathrine)
Nat ovangkol-top bass "Btamba" (Swahili for 'Virgin')
Selfmade neck-thru "Pauliina" (Pauline)
Av burst AM255 "Martta" (Martha)
Dark MC300 "Matleena" (Mathlene?) *Sold*
I can't say I sold a woman! *We broke up*

Now taking them all out, I could start calling my
White CN200 "Liisa" (Lisa). And
All black RG140 "Tiina" (Tina).

My av AR300 will never have a name since we are growing apart from eachother all the time.

Surprisingly only one of those is a name for a girl I had a crush on...

-Aki.

Sad but true, yes I do...
MC 400....Alice
Musician Ltd edition....Mary-Ann
Artist 2617....Dwight
Artist 2622....Jerome
Vintage acoustic...Bessie
All named from old Alice Cooper songs, I'm afraid.

Thought I'd pick up on this old thread Steve.

I'm narrowing my naming down to the Ibanez guitar that I would keep if I had to sell all the others.

So for me it's got to be my old Scruggs model. Now this guitar has some local history that I won't subject you all to as it's probably incredibly boring to anyone but me. So to cut the monotony, my Scruggs has been christened "Frank". Principally because the first time I spotted the Scruggs (Frank), it (he) was sitting in a music shop called "Frank Hutchins Music" that was located at the 'Abbey Arms' near Canning Town in East London. The rest is history……

So from now on, when I speak of the Scruggs I will refer to it (him) as Frank!

Has anyone named their Scruggs “Randy”? :)

Six:

The only time I call my guitars "names" is when they play the wrong chord, are out of time with the rest of the band, or move their strings away from my pick during a solo. That's when I call them all the exact same name, but I can't repeat it in a family forum.:)

*spews Coke all over the keyboard*

Thanx, John. How am I gonna explain THIS to my IS guy? LMMFAO !!!

Are you sure that particular name isn't more properly directed at the operator of said guitars...
:):)

Back to the topic...

I'm down to 5 guitars plus the bass now. Still got these 3 from above:

RG440 "Chiquita" (Pearl White - aged to banana yellow)
RG420 "Lucy" (Cherry Ice - pink)
RG420 "Roxanne" (Black)

Added:

RS1400 "Eleanor" (Silver Smoke - We have a checkered history since my first one was stolen. I borrowed the name from the nemesis Mustang GT500 in the remake of "Gone in 60 Seconds". If you've seen the movie, you'll understand)

RG440 (Pearl Red - Dunno, yet! She's kinda slutty, but not cheap or trashy. Any ideas? NOT Angie, that's my sister's name)

EXB404(4-string Bass, Burgandy Red - "Bernadette" . My wife came up with this one.)

Cheers

The Pearl Red RG440 got named last night. I had just finished reassembling her after a thorough detailing. My brother was in the studio working on a mix.

Guitar in-hand, I wandered out to where he was and we began discussing possible names. I pointed out that the Red and Black color scheme kinda reminded me of a chick wearing a leather mini-skirt and red spike heels (also know as "f**k me" pumps). This lead to several colorful comments that I shall not repeat here. No offense ladies! We were just being guys...

In the end, we Christened her, Candi...

Cheers

Your guitars have some real fancy names Steve. Makes my old Frank sound a little boring. Even so, he's a good friend and we still go out drinking now and then.

Yeah, I've named a few of mine. One in particular, "Brittney", stands out though. Check out this link to find out why: http://www.geocities.com/guitar2mw/britneycloseup1.jpg. If you think that's bad, you should see the back of it!
I also have an RG570 which I used to call "Jennifer", and an AM73 named "Moon Goddess" (long story...has to do with the ex girlfriend who bought it for me). I have an Alvarez acoustic named after Doc Watson, because I got him to autograph it at a festival I played with him at last year. Other than that, I just call all of my other guitars...backups! :)

RGR 320 DX, "kamikaze 2" no need to explain anymore.
RG 320 DX Qm "marble" , the quiled maple top just like marble.
RGR 620 TKS "kaori", a common japanese name, because she was born in Japan 1995, next yaer she is 10, I'll make a party for her.
RG 520 QS TK, this baby has a beutiful quilted sapele top, dark brown transparent finish ( in ibanez they called transparent black) i never found a right name for here..any suggestion?

Some cool axes there, Kipreitz!

Funny, I belong to a car web site, and the same question comes up a lot. I've never named my guitars. I'll have to think about that.
