I was deeply saddened to learn last night that Shawn Lane had passed away on September 26th. He was a relatively unknown player, but those who had discovered him knew about his absolutely mind-blowing talent. He shamed a cocky Ted Nugent off the stage, made Billy Gibbons literally fall off his chair in amazement, out-shined Via, Satch, Gilbert, Timmons and Beach at an Ibanez jam and left seasoned pros awestruck at his first NAMM show. He was suffering from declining health at 40 years of age, I'm not sure what the final cause of death was. This is a serious loss. Why is it that the brightest stars need need to burn out so quickly.
