I have finally taken some photos of pulling apart a tuner for all of those interested here is my secret :;

tools needed:

1 x Artist/RG truss rod wrench (or something similar with a small circular flat base)

1x bottle super glue

1 phillips head screwdriver

1 bottle acetone to clean up glue

1 jar for all bits and pieces

1

1: apply some glue to the circular back of the tuner and the place trus rod wrench on this section..
2

2 let dry for about 90 seconds

3 Pull trus rod wrench perpendicular to tuner and cover should come off. immediately remove cover from wrench befor glue sets too hard..
3

4 Use your screwdriver to pull the tuner apart making sure you have all washers accounted for..

4

And thats it...

Make sure you clean glue off back of tuner cover ..

One thing I have found doing this is that some Smooth Tuners do not have a gear screw in them, they are stamped together so there is no way of pulling these ones apart

Oh and dont do them to your star tuners as you will lose the Star :)
