I am in desparate need of a new set of string saddles for my Steve Lukather Model RS 1010SL with Hard Rocker Pro tremolo system and fixed bridge.
The present saddles are so worn that I am constantly breaking strings.
Any suggestions where to obtain these?

I seem to break top E once a week on my AM50, I presume its a fault on the saddle, because thats where the break occurs. Is there a fix, like smoothing the V in the saddle?

Also Ive come across an e.q. artist, but the guy has had the ebony fingerboard laquered, whats the chances of removing the laquer successfully?

Whats happened to J Ds site, I can only get certain pages, is it me, or is there a problem with his site?

rocknroll Paddy.

Paddy,

Polishing/filing the saddle groove should help. I use either a jewlers file or a piece of 600 grit paper folded over. Go slow and easy as you only need to remove a very small amount of material.

Apparently, JD has run into to bandwidth cost issues and has shut dowm most of the site :(

Cheers
Steve

thanks Steve,
Ive done some gentle polishing with 600 paper, and looking under a magnifiying glass there doesnt appear to be any high spots, Ill see how it goes, --- sorry about J.D.s site.

If anybody has saved the files for the solid body artists I would appreciate it if they could email them to me.
wishes Paddy.
