Are Super 58 pups wax potted??

I sent it to Torres engineering for repair. They found the wires connecting the 2 bobbins were twisted together but not soldered.I wonder how many left the factory that way.It took me a very long time to isolate the pickup as being the problem. Anyway, he told me the pickup was waxed potted but the cover was not. Checking other pickups, I've seen the bottom of the pickup covered in wax so apparently there are two ways to do it. On the back it has some lettering in small boxes, reads as SP 58 F, the pickup has 4 leads and is wax potted, so, hopefully it will sound cool on the neck position of my ar 50 frankenstein, jazzzz   Gemberbier Username: Gemberbier Registered: 5-2006 Posted on Friday, August 24, 2007 - 5:47 pm:    SP 58 F F stands for FRONT, so it is a NECK pickup. T stands for TAIL (Bridge). The difference is the placement of the leads, the length of the leads and the number of windings on the coils. The T pickups ought to have a little more, which results in a higher resistance on the Ohm-meter, thus more output for the lead pickup. The F will sound warm and jazzy, the way you like it in the neck position. But it is wise to compare the resistance with that of the JB in this case. I never tried the Duncan JB pups because I still have so many demo Gibbies in the drawer, but the pickup with the highest output should be in the Tail position.
