Played RG 550s on the first Jane's nationwide club tour. When I saw them in Boston he had an all black one with a maple fretboard.. he also had a bright yellow one which can be seen in some of their early videos.

Just an amazing player live in those years. Really mixed some awesome atmospherics in with his 'shredding' (which was always tasty and added to the song). Robert Smith of the Cure and Daniel Ash from Love and Rockets were big influences with their minimal style.

Lately, he's just turned into a celeb-wanna be wanker (see "Rock Star: Supernova) and his playing has followed suit.. it's become superficial.
