Eric:

Did you check to make sure that the image file you wanted to upload was less than 50k in size? It also needs to be in GIF or JPEG (RGB not CMYK) format. If the file doesn't meet these requirements then it won't upload.

EricIbanez, i usually email them to myself and have the option to make them smaller or keep them original. Then I send them to myself and save them on the computer to upload here. Thats because it's the only way I know how but it works for me.

I've never heard of the procedure that Freak describes (Freak, is this a function of MSN?), but it obviously works.

The FAQ page I referred to earlier, suggested: "...Adobe's PhotoShop, Corel's PhotoPaint or JASC's PaintShop Pro (there are other commercial and shareware bitmap editors)." Corel recently bought PaintShop Pro and is offering it for approx. $50. Adobe also has PhotoShop Elements for around the same price. Some of these cheaper programs also come bundled with Digi Cameras and scanners, so check those CDs out that you got with your equipment.

Here's a pretty impressive little Windows app that gives you all the tools you need to crop, resize/resample and compress your digital images.

http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm

However, there's a lot of power in this app to do MUCH more and best of all, it's FREE!

Is that an '83 or '84 AR305SE in Burl Mahogany?

Hey guys
Thanks for the help. I tries both methods. My email just sends the big files so I got Johns program. The Faststone program is really great!

Thanks again.

By the way that 305 is awesome. You don't see them around to often. I had a great 105 that I ad to sell last year. It was an awesome guitar.

JohnS,

It's a 1982 AR305AV S/N F825915. When I got it, there was a long, deep scratch to the left of the tailpiece. It looked like a previous owner had tried to adjust one of the screws. The screwdriver sheared off part of the slot in the screw, slipped and then dug a saw-tooth furrow into the finish. I had it repaired, plus a deep chip on the top edge fixed. You'd be hard pressed to spot where the scratch was. Spiro gve me the name of a luthier in Perth, Western Australia who did a great job on it.

I find the burl mahogany notoriously difficult to photograph to do it justice. That picture was taken in my study where I do my recording on PC.

An '82? I thought I saw a Gibraltar II bridge and guessed it to be a little later.

You're right about photographing the burl mahogany. I've found that shooting with lots of daylight (outside on a sunny day) gets the most consistent results. When I try to use a flash, it changes the whole look...something you would never see under normal conditions.

I'm glad you got things working. I just found FSViewer while looking for an answer to your question. I'm VERY impressed with it.

Problems with uploading images are fairly common, so feel free to pass your new found talents on to those who will ask the same question in the future. :-)

Hi Johns,

The 82 AM50 (#D82xxxx) I sold last month had Gibraltar II bridge bridge also.

JohnS, ah yes, the hardware, IbanezFreak1962 and myself had a thread going about this very issue!

My bridge is the original Gibraltar, slab-sided affair, not the narrower rounded-ends GibraltarII

As for the tailpiece, there is confusion as to its correct designation. It's somewhere between the original Quick Change and the Quick Change MkII

This picture also shows the scratch in the top prior to repair.
