Jeff:

I saw this from the back of an old Replica catalog:

catalogback

It reminded me of Fat Freddy, one of the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers? Any memories on the subject?

John -

Funny, but I was thinking about the furry freak a couple of weeks ago. The art was originally drawn by a guy I worked at an ad agency with. His name was Scott something. I remember that he was a big Yes fan. And yes, it was a knock off of the FF Bro's (we'd copy anything).

It was our first T-shirt design. We did a promo where we gave away T-shirts when you bought certain models. We did an ad to announce the promotion that I shot in our conference room using our warehouse manager and our printer's girlfriend (mondo hooters) as models.

We also did these kind of hippie burlap shoulder bags with the art silk screened on them. We gave them away to dealers at the NAMM show so they could carry their collected litertaure around the show while exposing our logo. They were actually a big hit.

I'm guessing that a t-shirt and shoulder bag combo in mint condition would be quite a collector's bonanza.

The keep on rockin guy was one of our most successful low budget promotions. I think we did the whole thing for about the price of a 24-piece bucket from KFC.

Thanks for bringing the old geezer back to life.

Mark:

The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers were counter-culture comic characters popular in the late 60s/early 70s. (Hmmm, about the same time Ibanez took off.) They were the role models for hippy types. :)

You can check out www.ripoffpress.com for more info on the FFFB.

Thanks John. BTW I have noticed that Jeff's Black Hole no longer appears as a Topic on the Discussion Intro page. If there is no action in this topic for a week or more, the whole thing would drop off the radar. What's up??

Cheers,

Mark

John,

I'm a lookin' but it ain't there. Could this have something to do with the fact that I still have to type in the IP number to get to your site??

Remember I had that problem with that "Atlanta Earthlink farm Down For Maintenance" message that came up if I type in Ibanezcollectors.com. Well that problem still occurs so I still type in your IP number.

Wierd!!

I don't know what's the problem. Maybe it's because you live on the other side of the earth and all the blood is rushing to your head. :)

Have you asked your service provider about it? You could try doing a "ping" or "tracert" from the command prompt, on both the URL and the IP address. I just did and they came back identical. Let me know what they say.

What browser are you using? You might want to try pressing the "reload" or "refresh" button on your browser when the topic frame comes up.

Anybody else from down under having trouble?
