Well, I've spent two days poking around the site, running various Blazer searches in the hopes of figuring out the model number and probable year of my Ibanez, to no avail. I looked at the catalog pages shown on the ibanezrules.com site and I didn't see any solid matches.

other images are at:
folder of images ones marked full are 100k each

i picked the guitar up around 1992 or so in a pawn shop. traded it for my dying magnavox videowriter word processor ... perhaps a $100 trade at best. the sound is great, but i have yet to isolate if i'm running thru cords at an amazing rate or if the pickups are cutting out. i was going to take it in to a local shop so they could isolate that ... but i wanted to know more about the guitar first (more than the fact that i adore it!) it's got the best action of any electric i've owned and a gorgeous tone to it.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your Blazer was made in 1980 as per your serial number 100 bucks is a good deal they go for 150 to 400 on ebay yours looks nice a great player im sure so it is not extremely collectable but is a great value as a player guitar take care of it

Haha..., the Magnavox Videowriter... those were the days...
A Philips product btw.

The body seems to be ash (not one piece though, but still... it's ash), indeed a great value as a player.

thanks! anyone have an idea how i can narrow down that model number? like an idiot, i set it up and *then* started getting curious about its history, so i don't want to open it up right now.

also, most of the bridges i see don't look anything like mine. Ideas?

ginger - yep, that videowriter was an odd little machine with loads of issues. i was glad to get a real computer after that thing! oddly enough, tho, i want my c-64 set-up back.}

Ender, it's quite simple:
Between 1975 and 1987 (ending 1986) the serial numbers on Ibanez electric guitars started with a letter between A (for January) and L (for December), in this case May, then two digits between 75 (1975) and 86 (1986), in this case 1980 and then the overall production number that was reached the moment this guitar was numbered, in this case 282.

Nice buy Blondax, it looks lovingly well worn for its age. ( August 1980 )

Cappy :-)
