Like soooo many stories we've all heard before, I once purchased a beautiful Ibanez that (when young and stupid) I ended up selling.

I'm trying to zero-in on exactly what model it was in hopes to find and buy one. I was first told it was a Musician, but it seems now that it was an Artist -- perhaps a 2700 series? But if so, which one? Anyhow, I would SO appreciate any help any of you might give me in nailing this one down. Thanks!

Here is a photo that I took in late 1979/early 1980:

Paradoxology, your guitar is a Ibanez model 2710. As the catalogue reads..."The first distinguishing feature of this model is the striking laminated construction of maple and a variety of exotic hardwoods including Zebra and Ash. In addition to the beauty and the contrast of the select rare woods, this guitar offers distinct performance advantages over other guitars. The neck is laminated with 7 select piece of maple and walnut and runs the complete length of the instrument, from endpin to the top of the headstock. The pickups are the newly developed Super 88's which are as hot as the hottest, but with true high fidelity"

Hope this ends a saga for you, sorry you had to let it go :-(

Captain Ibanez :-)

Captainibanez -- thanks for solving this one for me.

Careycorson -- I really appreciated the eBay link. $1000, hmmm. I guess I'd better start saving now for the next one that comes along. :D

I'm wondering... were there specific model numbers issued within the 2700 range, to account for differences such as those between the one I once had and the obviously enhanced version which recently sold on eBay?

Anyway, thanks for the help!

Paradoxology:

The Artist Custom series consisted of 2 models:

2700, with a 3-band EQ (like the one in the ebay auction.)
2700

2710, no EQ (like your's)
2710

Johns,

Woohoo! Thanks so much!

Sorry for not responding sooner, my son got married over the weekend and I'm finally getting caught up.

Hopefully, I can pick up a well-kept one of these in the coming year or so.

Thanks again.
