Hi,
I'm looking for information on an Ibanez Rhythm guitar (serial no 1240) It was made in Japan with a single pickup and plastic machine heads and was built in the 1950's. I is it valuable , a collectors item and if anyone was interested in buying it what would be a good price. Thanks

Msglenny, thanks for dropping by.

These Ibanez "Rhythm"series guitars used to be what we like to call around here in ICW as the "old pawn shop" model. These guitars came out of the woodwork so to speak in the very early 1970's as people began to upgrade to the now famous Ibanez "Law Suite"model copy series of Gibson, Fender and Rickenbacker.
These guitars were first produced in the very late 1950's and were gone by around the early to mid 1960's. So what you have is a piece of Ibanez history....so pass it on to generations to come as a family heirloom...Shanley, when will you put spell checker on here...:-) hehe
The body's are constructed either from Mahogany or Ash and may be crude in there construction by todays standards....but how do you explain Gibson and Fender...hehe.:-)
But this is where the true love began in guitar building began...build a better product was the motto and still is :-)

Keep On Rockin' this classic under the bed for the future...the market is not the force that you would choose for parting with this classic piece of Ibanez history...but , its only a matter of time :-)

Captain Ibanez :-)
