I recently purchased an Ibanez that seems to be in the musician series, but there are some differences. I was told that there were only two of them ever made and that Bob Weir owns the other one. How can I find out if that is true or not ? I talked to a local guitar tech that has been in the business for over 30 years and he said that the guitar I bought is very rare and that Ibanez may be interested in it. He told me to contact a guy named Paul S. at Ibanez I don't know how to spell the last name. The body is ash with the center being birdseye maple and the wings being rosewood. It looks like a work of art rather than a guitar. It has the EQ tone system with the pre-amp and mini light with abalone dot inlays in the body at the volume and tone knobs. It looks like a MC500, but with different woods and it has a set neck instead of neck thru. It weighs a ton. I will try to post pictures asap. I am going to the Philly guitar show and I am trying to find out some info on the guitar before the show this weekend. Any advise on who to contact for info would be appreciated.

Like the Cappy, I'm sure we'd all love to see pictures. Orval has already replied about his "special" Musician.

There are a bunch of us trying to meet up at the Philly guitar show on Sat. If things work out, we might be able to meet with a representative of Hoshino, too. Let me know if you're interested and I'll keep you in the loop for the arrangements.

If you want, click on my username to start an email to me. Attach the pictures to the email and I'll post them.

There are 4-5 of us wanting to meet up at the show. Paul Specht of Hoshino is trying to meet up in the early afternoon for a short time, but can't promise anything. There's a thread about the show already started in the Miscellaneous section, watch it for any news.

Does your username mean that you also have USA Custom Ibanezes?

Yes, I have two USRG20 Guitars in translucent purple. I might be able to part with one, but won't bring it to the show unless someone hear wants me to. I also have a Bob Weir signature with abalone dot inlays with the butterfly p.u.'s. Also a Iceman 2 flamed maple top, red sunburst, pearl block inlays with abalone slants. Pete at Ibanez found out some info on the Studio model guitar, it is very rare and it was made in the hand crafted division and he said it is probably a one off called a ST-Custom. He is going to try and get even more info on it and is faxing me the spec sheet. Ibanez is one awesome company. I will send you some pics. Thanks
