AR300 Heel

I tried Customer service, but they where no help. Those have what's called a 'smooth heel'. Really a great feel with superior upper register access. I was getting discouraged about ordering one, but i think i am going to take the chance now. Customer service actually got back to me about it as well and they state that it is smooth as well. Skybone Username: Skybone Registered: 03-2001 Posted on Saturday, October 15, 2005 - 4:17 am:    From what I've seen of the new Artist models, they appear to be based on the 80's Artist, which had a more Les Paul like heel, as opposed to the late 70's models which had the "smooth heel", where the heel was carved, so that the neck flowed into the body without any noticeable heel, kind of like a through neck guitars heel. I have both 2004 and 2005 examples in my store. The '05's have the SMOOTH HEEL JOINT !! My '86 and '82 Artists both had the smooth heel joint. What models are you looking at? My '77 and '98 had the more squared off heel. Steve Skybone Username: Skybone Registered: 03-2001 Posted on Sunday, October 16, 2005 - 1:49 pm:    Steve, I have a '79 2619 which has the smooth heel, I though that from around '78 when all the specs were changed until early 1980 when they were all changed again, that all Artist's had a smooth heel. I agree that the '77 had a more traditional heel, as I used to have a '77 2619 with a single 2 way mini switch instead of 2 tri-sound switches, and that had a heel. All the modern Artist's I've seen, in shops and in magazines and on eBay, they've all had what look like 80's Artist specs, which included the "traditional" heel and not the smooth joint. I obviously haven't seen any of the 2005 models yet.
