Jim Donahue suggested I post here to see if someone could assist me on my (likely hopeless) quest for a replacement Velve Tune BII Bass tuner. D string. I'd prefer black (as that what the other 3 are), but at this point any color would do.

Anyone on the planet got one that they'd sell to me?

I have 4. But there's this piece of wood attached to it... called Roadstar II bass.

Aren't they available from the Ibanez distributor anymore? (without the wood)

I found this in a parts list of 2000:
http://www.ibanez.com/parts/2000_PARTS/El-Bass/List-MH.htm#1
and
http://www.ibanez.com/parts/2000_PARTS/El-Bass/Pix-MH.htm#GB70

In Google I saw many people looking for the same part, so I suggest that you buy a 5 string set 3L and 2 R of the GBE parts number 2MH1GBE32B (BK). They were used on the SR (SoundGear) Series. Use 1 L on your bass and the other 4 (2L and 2R) you can put on any bass that needs better tuners or sell them as a set (2L+2R).

If you'd accept chrome at this point, these black Japanese Ibanez tuners won't be much of a problem.
You could also buy the Korean 5 string set, that will be cheaper. But I think the Japanese are better.

The Ibanez distributor should have them.

Greetz,

Ginger Ale.

The ones from the '80's aren't available anymore. Called them. They said they've gotten a few calls. Don't have that part around anymore.

The one you linked to isn't the same. The ...gearbox? (guess that's the best name for it) has a smaller diameter than the one on my bass. Plus, the tuner on mine has two screw holes, the displayed one only one screw hole.

At the moment, the plan is to plug the hole, then drill a new, smaller hole for one of those pictured tuners.

But I'm hoping that there's a bass out there that got run over by a truck that had a D tuner survive.

Jim Donahue's told me that the part # I'm looking for is

MB555BK

or

MB565

for the 5-string.
